Back in July, Hugh and I finally agreed upon the baby furniture. Woo hoo!! I decided to order it from Baby's Room in Lexington because their prices were $100+ cheaper than the Kenwood and Louisville store. It was due to arrive mid-late September. Well, two Friday's ago, the lady called me and explained that the company had placed all ChildCraft furniture on backorder. It was now due to arrive in late October, early November. Yeah, the same time as the expected arrival date - yikes!!! The company had been bought out by another company and all their furniture was on backorder, not to mention most employees had quit because the headquarters was being relocated. I asked the woman, if she thought early November was firm. She replied that she had limited confidence. They were willing to reimburse the full amount, if we wanted to find a new set of furniture. I looked high and low and found very few alternatives. Well, the few alternatives I found were more than double what we had paid. Plan B. I started calling around to see if any stores were willing to sell their floor models. Kiddie Kastle in Louisville was a savior!!! They had both the crib and changing table in the color and style we wanted. Kathy checked them out for us and confirmed that they were in great condition. What was a late September delivery and became a November delivery is now a tomorrow pick-up. Yeah!! I can't wait. This past week, Granny D painted the baby's room, so once the furniture is in, we'll be ready to go!! Yeah!!
