Cute pics of our lil' man

2 month Dr's appt

Yesterday, Hugh had his 2 month doctor's visit.  He was 9 weeks and very healthy.  He weighed 12lbs 12.2oz and was 23.75 inches long.  He was 75th percentile for both weight and height.  This visit, he had to get many vaccinations.  He had to have a shot in both legs with 3 total vacs and then digest an oral medication for rotovirus.  He took the oral medication fairly well and then there were 2 nurses to give him his shots.  They do the shots simultaneously to ease the pain.  Daddy Hugh and I held onto him very tightly, but our lil' man screamed bloody murder when he felt the pain.  Poor guy!!  Although, he did get two cute little bandaids.  Daddy's quote, 'You got this -- suck it up little man'.  Isn't he empathetic??  The Doctor forewarned us that the rotovirus can cause a fussy baby with an upset stomach, potential fever and a runny bottom for a couple of days.  After the appointment, he slept three hours VERY soundly.  When we got home, what seemed like a hungry cry wasn't a hungry cry.  He didn't want anything to do with food -- which was a first for us.  His tummy must have been extremely upset because he just screamed for an hour straight.  We just held him and rubbed his lil' belly until he was somewhat soothed.  Lucky for all of us, that appears to be the only side effect.  We had a normal overnight with him falling asleep around 11p and waking up twice to feed at night.  He has been a happy little boy all day.  TGIF:-)  We are looking forward to a low key weekend.

Happy New Year!!

Our lil' man is getting so big.  He's doing many new things that an infant can possible do:-)  After a good feeding or nap, he loves to play on his belly or back and smile at you over and over again.  If you keep smiling at him, he'll mimic your smile.  He has also been talking (cooing) up a storm, as well as laughing.  He even laughs in his sleep -- his belly starts bouncing, he smiles and you hear these loud squeals.  We are finally getting into a routine.  Mommy and Daddy go to bed between 11p-1a and little Hugh will usually sleep 3.5-6.5 hours getting up only 1x until 7a.  If we're lucky, he'll sleep until 8a or 8:30a.  Unfortunately, he is beginning to really dislike bath time.  He used to be a fish for water and now he screams bloody murder everytime.  His cradle cap is still quite bad and we've been having to wash his head more frequently -- could be why he hates bathtime now:-(

This past week, Mommy and Daddy had their first night out while lil' Hugh stayed with Granny Diva and aunt Kelly.  First night out = family night in the mini-van for Jarrod's 30th.  The next day was the Bengals playoff game.  Both events were a lot of fun, but we missed him like crazy.  I kept looking at his pics on my phone while at the Bengals game.  We celebrated Christmas with the family Saturday early afternoon and little Hugh had a blast with his cousins.

Mommy also visited with her LPK friends, Jamie and Courtney, for lunch at First Watch.  They, too, have sons within 1 week of Hugh.  Lucas was born 11/11, Quin 11/12 and Hugh 11/16.  We had a great time exchanging baby stories.  Lil' Hugh even made an impression when he had one of his famous 'blowouts', so we spent the first 15 minutes cleaning up in the restroom.  The next day, Mommy went to LPK to have lunch with Sandy and Holly and then visit with all of her co-workers.  It was a very nice visit:-)

Can't believe he'll be 2 months old already.  It's going by soooo fast.

My First Christmas '09

Christmas Eve, we went to Louisville to visit with Grandma Kathy.  We barely made it to Christmas Eve mass due to a few delays (dog bowls on the roof, little Hugh's messy outfit and Kobuk's messy coat -- to name a few).  I think God was giving us a little pre-Christmas humor.  Christmas day, we visited with Cameron family and the Ives family.  It was a perfect first Christmas!!  Little Hugh even got to meet his new cousin, James Brown:-)

The beginning of Hugh's faith journey

Friday, December 18th little Hugh was baptized at St. Timothy Church in Union.  Deacon Tom Nolan was extremely kind to make special arrangements to baptize Hugh while his godfather Vince and godmother Stephanie were in town.  The morning of the Baptism, while Mommy and Grandma prepared the food and desserts for the evening celebration, Hugh decided that sleep was overrated.  The only hour he slept that entire day was during his Baptism.  He hardly flinched when the water was poured over his head.  Thanks to the family for coming to NKY Friday evening to partake in his special day.  We are very blessed to have a supportive family for our son and we are so excited that he has begun his faith journey:-)
